Pakistan, Belarus Commit to Strengthen Parliamentary Cooperation

Islamabad (TDI): Natasha Daultana, Convener of the Pakistan–Belarus Parliamentary Friendship Group (PFG), met with Andrei N. Metelitsa, Ambassador of Belarus to Pakistan, at the Belarusian Embassy in Islamabad.

During the meeting, Daultana highlighted the important role of Parliamentary Friendship Groups in promoting parliamentary diplomacy and fostering stronger ties between the Parliament of Pakistan and legislatures of friendly nations.

She emphasized the need to enhance engagement between Pakistan and Belarus and invited the Ambassador to visit the National Assembly to interact with members of the Pakistan–Belarus PFG. She also suggested organizing a virtual meeting between the two parliamentary friendship groups to facilitate continued collaboration.

Ambassador welcomed the initiative and underscored the cordial and friendly relations between Pakistan and Belarus.

He recalled recent high-level exchanges between the two countries, including the visit of the Prime Minister of Belarus to Pakistan to attend the SCO Summit in 2024, the visit of the President of Belarus to Pakistan in November 2024, and the visit of the Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, to Belarus in August 2024 along with a parliamentary delegation.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations through enhanced parliamentary cooperation and sustained engagement between the two countries.
