Karachi (TDI): In a significant move to strengthen bilateral ties, Pakistan and Bangladesh are working closely to enhance cooperation for the mutual benefit of their peoples. To advance this initiative, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar is set to visit Bangladesh later this month. The visit is likely to explore new avenues of collaboration, especially in the sectors of tourism and investment, where immense opportunities await Pakistan in Bangladesh’s growing market.
Speaking at a reception marking Bangladesh’s 54th independence and National Day, Deputy High Commissioner S M Mahbubul Alam highlighted the vast potential for strengthening mutually beneficial ties between Pakistan and Bangladesh.
The National Day celebration opened with a grand ceremony, commencing with the national anthems of both nations.

Sindh Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani was the guest of honor. Bangladesh High Commissioner in Pakistan Iqbal Husain Khan, Consuls General of different nations in Karachi, other diplomats, senators, members of national and provincial assemblies, political leaders, government officials, business leaders, cultural activists, women entrepreneurs, media personalities and journalists attended the celebration.
The Deputy High Commissioner noted that Dhaka and Islamabad enjoy robust bilateral ties.
Bangladesh’s Chief Advisor Dr Muhammad Yunus and Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met multiple times over the past months. They held a meeting in September last year on the margins of the 79th UNGA session in New York and again in December 2024 during the D-8 Summit in Cairo.

The meetings underlined the willingness to strengthen collaboration, particularly in economic prosperity, trade, investment, cultural exchange, and people-to-people contacts.
On April 17, the sixth Round of Foreign Secretary-Level Consultations was organized in Dhaka, in which Foreign Secretary of Pakistan Ambassador Amna Baloch and Foreign Secretary of Bangladesh Ambassador Jashim Uddin led the respective delegations and exchanged views on all aspects of bilateral ties.
