Pakistan, Azerbaijan Vow to Boost Economic Cooperation

Islamabad (TDI): In a significant step toward enhancing bilateral economic ties, a high-level meeting was held on Tuesday between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan Senator Ishaq Dar and Minister for Economy of Azerbaijan Mikayil Jabbarov.

The discussions highlighted the shared commitment of both nations to strengthening trade, investment, and long-term economic cooperation.

Dar expressed sincere appreciation for Minister Jabbarov’s leadership and vision in promoting a robust economic relationship between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.

The meeting recognized the vital role played by the President of Azerbaijan and the Prime Minister of Pakistan, whose personal interest and strategic guidance continue to drive efforts toward transforming strong political ties into meaningful economic outcomes.

Both sides acknowledged the positive momentum generated since the recent visit of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to Baku, which laid the foundation for renewed focus on strategic investment projects.

This spirit of collaboration has been further nurtured through sustained engagement between relevant institutions, particularly via the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), prioritizing Government-to-Government (G2G) and Business-to-Business (B2B) cooperation.

The meeting emphasized the importance of fast-tracking key projects that can serve as anchors for broader economic activity.

Priority sectors under discussion included infrastructure development, energy, information technology, and green energy, where both nations are exploring joint ventures and long-term strategic investments.

Pakistan’s Ministry of Commerce presented a detailed roadmap aimed at boosting bilateral trade volumes and diversifying areas of cooperation.

The plan includes targeted measures to improve the business climate, facilitate cross-border investments, and encourage private sector participation.
