United Nations (TDI): Pakistan has expressed serious concern over the humanitarian impact of war in Ukraine, emphasizing the need for dialogue and diplomacy to resolve the crisis in line with UN charter.
Speaking at the UNSC Arria Formula meeting, Counsellor Kamran Taj said that Pakistan is particularly concerned about the impact of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine on the civilians and civilian infrastructure in the conflict zone.
“We urge an early cessation of hostilities, and a resolution to this conflict through dialogue and diplomacy, in line with the UN Charter,” he said.

The Pakistani delegate further said that the International Humanitarian Law (IHL) and its principles make it obligatory upon the parties to refrain from attacks against civilians or civil infrastructure.

“In this regard we would, once again, call for a strict adherence to the IHL by all concerned,” he added.
The war in Ukraine has drawn widespread global concern, with international community calling for swift de-escalation and search for peaceful means to end the conflict.
Pakistan’s recent statement reinforces its stance on upholding international law and prioritizing civilian welfare.
