Islamabad, 18 May 2023 (TDI): General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, met with Sheikh Saoud bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani, Ambassador of Qatar to Pakistan, to evaluate and develop bilateral relations between the two countries. The meeting focused on Pakistan’s and Qatar’s strategic alliances.
During the session, General Mirza and Diplomat Al Thani engaged in cordial discussions on various mutually beneficial themes. They acknowledged the long-standing friendship between Pakistan and Qatar based on similar principles. Both officials desired to expand cooperation in multiple areas, including defense, security, trade, and investment.
General Mirza expressed Pakistan’s gratitude for Qatar’s continuing assistance and solidarity. He underscored the significance of bilateral military cooperation and the need for regular exchanges of high-level military delegations to explore new paths of collaboration. He also commended Qatar’s initiatives to advance peace and stability in the region.
Envoy Al Thani conveyed Qatar’s strong desire to strengthen ties with Pakistan in all spheres. He acknowledged Pakistan’s substantial contributions to regional peace and stability and its tenacity and dedication to battling terrorism.
The Ambassador stressed the possibilities for further developing economic cooperation between the two nations, stressing Qatar’s significant interest in exploring investment opportunities in Pakistan’s infrastructure development projects.

The two authorities underlined their dedication to close coordination and collaboration in regional and global arenas. They investigated new partnership channels in defense production, joint military exercises, and counterterrorism activities.
They also recognized the importance of people-to-people contacts, cultural interactions, and educational cooperation in strengthening ties between Pakistan and Qatar.
Both countries were committed to continued cooperation and emphasized the significance of regular high-level visits to promote understanding, trust, and friendship between Pakistan and Qatar.
The meeting between General Sahir Shamshad Mirza and Ambassador Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani underscore the strength of the bilateral relationship between Pakistan and Qatar.
