Islamabad, 1 August 2024 (TDI): The Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Pakistan, Yerzhan Kistafin, met the Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Climate Change, Romina Khurshid Alam, on Thursday to share a commitment to collaboration on climate change.
According to an official statement, the two countries have agreed to boost collaboration and share expertise in climate risk management, renewable energy, efficient water management, and eco-tourism.
During the meeting, both sides expressed their commitment to addressing the region’s unique challenges.

Ambassador Kistafin highlighted Kazakhstan’s desire to strengthen people-to-people contact through tourism and engagement in various socio-economic development sectors, including bilateral trade, education, and research. He also offered his country’s technical, technological, and financial support to build Pakistan’s climate resilience and promote sustainable practices.
Romina Khurshid Alam welcomed Kazakhstan’s offer and assured the ambassador of her full support, saying, “We will mobilize every possible resource to engage with Kazakhstan and benefit from their experiences in climate risk management, renewable energy, and sustainable agriculture.”
The meeting emphasized the urgent need for regional cooperation to address the common challenges facing Central Asia, including water scarcity, extreme weather events, desertification, and biodiversity loss. By working together, Pakistan and Kazakhstan aim to improve the quality of life and environment for their citizens and pave the way for a more sustainable future.
