In a first for Pakistani sports administration, the Traditional Sports and Games Pakistan Association (TSGPA) has appointed Mohsin Nawaz as its Official Sports Psychologist.
This appointment integrates a dedicated mental-performance specialist into the national setup as Pakistan prepares to field a 100-member contingent across 23 competitive disciplines at the 6th World Nomad Games 2026.
The appointment marks the first time in Pakistan’s history that TSGPA has formally brought a sports psychologist into its national sporting contingent, reflecting a broader shift in how the country prepares athletes for major international multi-sport events.
Nawaz, who holds the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz awarded by the President of Pakistan, also serves as a brand ambassador for Austria’s Kahles Optics, South Africa’s Peregrine Bullets, and the HawkSmith Gun Club in DHA, Karachi.
TSGPA officials pointed to his extensive background in sports psychology and high-performance training as central to his selection.

TSGPA Chairman and Head of Delegation Nawab Furqan Khan, together with Horseback Archery President and TSGPA board member Aurangzeb Mubashar, formally welcomed Nawaz into the national setup.
While mental conditioning support is common in international sports programs, officials described this as a pioneering move for Pakistan’s traditional sports sector specifically.
In his new role, Nawaz will design and run sports psychology programs for TSGPA athletes, focusing on performance-enhancement strategies, stress management, concentration training, and confidence-building for high-pressure competition.
He is also expected to work alongside coaches and officials to support the wider mental well-being of national teams ahead of upcoming events.
A total of 106 countries are expected to compete at the Games, often billed as the “Olympics of traditional sports.” Adding to the build-up, the National Bank of Pakistan has come on board as official corporate sponsor of the Horseback Archery team and Pakistan’s participation in the event.
Pakistan’s Horseback Archery squad includes Arham Ahsan, Gohar Mustafa, Arshaq Naeem, Aamina Shifa and Rehana Altaf.
Beyond the competitive events, the delegation will also stage cultural demonstrations of Kabaddi, Kite Flying, Desi Kushti and Naiza Bazi to showcase Pakistan’s heritage.
