Pakistan, Türkiye on Joint Naval Alert Amid Regional Escalation

Islamabad (TDI): The Pakistan Navy and the Turkish Naval Forces have elevated their operational alert levels to ensure the security of Pakistan’s maritime frontiers amidst growing regional instability.

This joint move signals deepening defense ties between the two nations, reinforced by strategic engagements at sea and mutual support in times of military conflict.

The latest development coincides with the arrival of the Turkish naval ship TCG Büyükada at Karachi Port on a goodwill visit aimed at enhancing maritime cooperation. The ship was warmly received by officials from both navies, as confirmed by the Directorate General Public Relations (DGPR) of the Pakistan Navy.

During its stay, the Turkish crew will participate in a series of professional interactions, signaling a shared commitment to maritime security and interoperability.

“The goodwill visit of TCG Büyükada stands as a testament to the ever-strengthening maritime collaboration between Pakistan and Türkiye,” the DGPR noted. “It reflects the deep-rooted mutual trust and strategic partnership between the two brotherly nations, anchored in historical ties and shared security goals.”

The arrival follows joint naval exercises, including the Ataturk-XIII drills, which saw participation from elite combat teams of both countries’ special forces.

Türkiye has also played a vital role in modernizing Pakistan’s Agosta 90B-class submarines and supplying critical defense technology, including unmanned aerial systems.

This strengthening of naval ties comes amid heightened tension in the region following the April 22 attack in Indian Occupied Kashmir, which resulted in the deaths of 26 tourists.

While India has accused Pakistan of involvement—a claim Islamabad denies—both countries have since escalated military posturing along the Line of Control (LoC).

The enhanced naval presence, mutual exercises, and strategic diplomacy aimed at a united front between Pakistan and Türkiye in safeguarding regional peace and deterring external threats.
