Islamabad (TDI): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar said on Monday that Pakistan has unveiled India’s malicious intent behind the Pahalgam attack.
In his opening remarks at the “Regional Dialogue 2025, Pathways to Peace and Prosperity in Turbulent Times”, organized by the Institute of Regional Studies, Islamabad, Dar said that the challenges being faced by our region as well as those at the international level, can only be addressed through a renewed recourse to multilateralism.
He said that Pakistan has always condemned terrorism in all forms and manifestations.
The Foreign Minister said that he has also directed Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN to request for a meeting of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on the recent tensions between Pakistan and India.
He said Islamabad will share facts with the UNSC members. He further said that baseless accusations and unilateral, politically motivated and highly provoking measures taken by India over the last couple of weeks pose a serious threat to regional and international peace and security.
“We believe that Pahalgam incident was an attempt to divert attention from India’s internal problems, state-sponsored terrorism, the serious human rights violations in IIOJK and to fulfill narrow domestic political objectives,” Dar said.
He added that Pakistan will resolutely safeguard its sovereignty and territory integrity. “Pakistan is completely alert and its troops are ready,” Dar said.

He further said that there has been a nefarious attempt on the night between April 29 and 30 by the Indian air force but our air force moved swiftly, timely and made them to run back. Indian fighter planes landed in hurry in Srinagar.
“Pakistan will not give up its share of water under Indus Waters Treaty. We are honoring the treaty in letter and spirit. We will not allow India to divert or stop the flow of water which is Pakistan’s due share under the agreement.”
The Deputy Prime Minister said Pakistan being a responsible member of the international community remains committed to regional peace and security. He said we will support all efforts towards de-escalation.
He said that the representatives of different governments are asking Pakistan if we can catch the perpetrators of the Pahalgam attack. The answer is no. “How can Pakistan catch people for India in their managed territory, which is 260 KMs away?”
Our region is facing numerous interlinked threatening crises from Palestine to Kashmir as well as ramifications of climate change that are not only limited to across the borders but across the generations. Pakistan is contributing less than 1 percent carbon emissions but is among the top 10 vulnerable countries, Dar added.

He said that its a unanimous decision to exercise the restraint, we will not be the first one to escalate, but in case of any act of aggression by India, Pakistan will respond to protect its sovereignty and defend its soil under the inherent right of self-protection as stated in Article-51 of the UN.
“We must not forget that unresolved dispute of Jammu & Kashmir remains the main reason of instability in the region.”
