Pakistan, Saudi FMs Stress 'Collective Efforts' for Stability in the Gulf and Mideast

Islamabad (TDI): Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have renewed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and promoting regional peace following a high-level meeting between Ishaq Dar and Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, on Sunday.

The latter was in Pakistan for a quadrilateral foreign minister-level consultative meeting on facilitating dialogue between the United States and Iran, initiated on the invitation of the Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister.

The four-way consultations focused on de-escalation efforts and long-term settlement of the conflict between Iran and the US.  Dar received Prince Faisal at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ahead of the quadrilateral talks.

According to an official statement, “the two leaders held detailed discussions on the evolving regional and international developments. They underscored the importance of dialogue, diplomacy, and collective efforts to promote peace, security and stability in the region.”

The two ministers agreed to stay in touch and actively engage on the matter, in continuation of the close contact Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have maintained since the first joint US and Israeli strikes on Iran, and the ensuing conflict.

Both sides expressed satisfaction with the longstanding relationship between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, describing it as rooted in mutual trust, shared values, and close cooperation.

Of recent, Pakistan has increasingly positioned itself as a key diplomatic actor in conflict resolution, offering to not just facilitate but also host US-Iran talks in Islamabad; talks which are possible in the coming days.

Meanwhile bilateral contact and consultations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are expected to continue; countries which are now also tied together in a mutual defense agreement.

As regional situation shifts quickly Pakistan and Saudi Arabia appear aligned in the pursuit of stability through dialogue and cooperation.
