Beijing (TDI): Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi, addressed the Policy Dialogue on “Synergizing the Digital Economy and Green Development: A Pathway to Environmentally Sustainable and Inclusive Digital Future” held in Beijing.
The event was jointly hosted by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the Beijing Institute of Technology.
In his remarks, Ambassador Hashmi emphasized the critical intersection between the digital economy and sustainability, underscoring the importance of harnessing technology to achieve environmentally sustainable development goals.
He highlighted the need for concerted efforts to mobilize finance, particularly for developing countries, to enable them to advance both digital and green development agendas.
“Pakistan is committed to integrating these emerging drivers of sustainable development into its national policy framework. This includes deepening bilateral cooperation with China, focusing on areas such as digital infrastructure, green technologies, and the mobilization of resources to foster inclusive economic growth,” Hashmi stated.

The policy dialogue, which brought together experts and policymakers from across the globe, focused on the dual challenge of advancing technological innovation while ensuring that such progress aligns with environmental sustainability.
