Pacific Ocean: June 29, 2021 – (TDI): The US Navy partnered with the Republic of Singapore’s navy in naval exercises in the Pacific Ocean. These bilateral naval exercises, Pacific Griffin 2021 started on June 21, near Guam. These warfare-focused bilateral advanced marine training, scheduled for two weeks, will end on July 7. This exercise aims to strengthen the bilateral relations between the two countries and enhance their collective proficiency at sea. 2021 marks the third year of these bilateral exercises between US and Singapore. This partnership symbolizes the trusting bilateral relation between both navies.
The exercises of Pacific griffin 2021 are taking place at the sea, as well at the shore, by including maritime special operations, anti-air defense exercises, maritime counter-terrorism training, anti-submarine warfare operations, and replenishments at sea serials. From the US, USS Benfold (DDG 65), a fast-attack submarine, a P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol reconnaissance aircraft, Coastal Riverine Group and Explosive Ordnance Disposal Detachments participated in the Pacific Griffin 2021. From Singapore’s Navy, the participants included two Formidable-class frigates RSS Tenacious and RSS Stalwart, Independence-class littoral mission vessel RSS Fearless, training ship MV Avatar, and naval divers.
