Over 11,000 Afghan Nationals Repatriated via Torkham

Peshawar (TDI): The repatriation of Afghan nationals residing illegally in Pakistan continued, as 3,669 more were repatriated through the Torkham border crossing on Tuesday.

Since the launch of the repatriation drive on April 1, a total of 11,371 Afghan citizens have repatriated so far this month.

The process involves legal procedures before illegal Afghan nationals are sent back through the Torkham border.

On Tuesday, 2,242 illegal Afghan residents voluntarily reported to the Landi Kotal transit camp, according to APP.

After completing the required documentation and legal procedure, they repatriated through the border crossing.

In addition, 1,427 individuals arrested in different cities across the country were directly transferred to the Torkham border for repatriation.

Since April 1, a total of 11,371 undocumented Afghan citizens have repatriated to their home country.

Moreover, from September 17, 2023, to March 2025, about 469,159 Afghans belonging to 70,494 families have returned to their home country via the Torkham crossing.

Meanwhile, the crackdown on illegal foreign citizens, including Afghan nationals, continued across the country.

Police and district administration teams are conducting raids, targeting individuals who either possess Afghan Citizen Cards (ACC), have expired visas or lack residential documentation.

However, Afghan citizens holding valid Proof of Registration (PoR) cards or residency proof were not being detained at this stage.

Since the start of the countrywide repatriation drive on September 17, 2023, until March 31, a total of 70,494 Afghan families, comprising 469,159 individuals, returned to Afghanistan.
