Bandar Seri Begawan, 12 July 2022 (TDI): The Ambassador of Oman to Brunei, Ahmed bin Hashil Al-Maskari and the Minister of Education, Hajja Rumaiza bint Al-Hajj Muhammad,  signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on higher education.

The Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation, Rahma Al Mahrouqi witnessed the signing that took place during the Oman-Brunei Cooperation Dialogue Education Forum.

In addition to this, from Oman’s side, the MoU was signed by the Ambassador of Oman to Brunei. Likewise, on Brunei’s side, it was signed by the Minister of Education.

Most importantly, the signing of the MoU resulted from the distinguished relations between the Sultanate of Oman and Brunei Darussalam.

As well as their desire to strengthen and develop cooperation in the fields of higher education.

Especially on the basis of the principle of mutual interests and to achieve goals and objectives of common interest as well.

In conjunction with the activity of both sides’ Cooperation Dialogue, the embassy held a symposium entitled ‘Education’. That is to shed light on the opportunities available to advance cooperation.

Particularly in the field of education between the Sultanate of Oman and Brunei Darussalam. Thus, in a way that brings more benefits and pushes the educational process to broader horizons.

Relations between Oman and Brunei

Oman and Brunei have enjoyed warm relations for many years and recently, both countries established a joint venture.

That is, the State General Reserve Fund of Oman with Brunei Investment Agency increased investment in aquaculture.

Furthermore, they both established diplomatic relations on March 24, 1984. During the past decades, Oman and Brunei have concluded a variety of agreements. As well as memoranda of understanding that have strengthened cooperation in different areas.

In addition, the close ties are shown by the establishment of a joint working group. That is known as the ‘Bilateral Consultative Meeting in 1993’.
