Islamabad, 9 November 2021 (TDI): OIC’s Special Envoy to Jammu and Kashmir Yousef Aldoubeay, had expressed the organization’s unwavering support for the legitimate Kashmiri fight for their intrinsic right to self-determination.

In Islamabad on Monday, 9th November, he spoke with Foreign Secretary Sohail Mahmood.

The Foreign Secretary welcomed the Special Envoy, saying that as a collective voice of the Islamic Ummah, this strong and principled position is a source of strength for the people of Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to the Foreign Secretary, India has denied Kashmiris all fundamental rights and freedoms, detained the rightful Kashmiri leadership, and killed, injured, and summarily executed them.

The Special Envoy of the OIC for Jammu and Kashmir is visiting Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir to review the human rights and humanitarian situation in the Indian controlled Jammu and Kashmir firsthand. The Special Envoy will be accompanied by a high-level delegation that includes the OIC’s Assistant Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs, Ambassador Tarig Bakhit, and other senior officials.

The OIC’s Special Envoy on Jammu and Kashmir, appointed by the 14th OIC Summit in Makkah in 2019, has played a key role in directing the Organization’s principled approach on this issue. In March 2020, the Special Envoy visited Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. In Niamey, he presented his first report to the 47th CFM. The OIC reaffirmed its support for the legitimate fight of the Kashmiri people for their fundamental right to self-determination, among other things, in the report.
