Pakistan Floods 2022
In response to the devastating 2022 monsoon floods in Pakistan, the NYPDPALS played a leading role in mobilizing relief aid from the Pakistani diaspora community.
Partnering with the NGO Helping Hand for Relief and Development (HHRD), NYPDPALS raised over $1.5 million through community outreach and campaigns from August-October 2022.
These funds allowed HHRD volunteers to distribute hundreds of thousands of emergency supplies. The supplies included food, water, shelter kits and medical assistance to flood victims across Sindh, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces.
At the meeting’s conclusion, the Consul General and the PALS pledged to build on their partnership. They also decided to work jointly between the Consulate and law enforcement agencies.
Both sides acknowledged the value of collaborating. The collaboration aims to tackle issues faced by Pakistani Americans. It also aims to advance community programs that improve the welfare and success of the diaspora.
