NEW YORK CITY, (TDI): Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif said that global stability hinges on resolving the Palestinian issue and emphasized the urgent need for global cooperation and systemic reforms to tackle the world’s most pressing security and development challenges.
Speaking at the United Nations Future Summit. He highlighted that security challenges threaten future generations and advocated for reforms in the global financial system to create opportunities for developing nations.
The Pakistan Defense Minister called for collective efforts to combat security threats that jeopardize not only current peace but also the future of generations to come.
He highlighted that over 100 developing countries urgently require reforms in the global system to foster growth and stability.
“As a global community, we have a role to play in charting a better course for the world,” he said, urging nations to collaborate for a safer, more peaceful, inclusive, sustainable, and prosperous future.

The defense minister proposed the creation of a Global Digital Compact to ensure future generations have access to digital opportunities, emphasizing that bridging the digital divide is vital for an equitable future.
He also called for agreements that would pave the way for a more just world.
Asif addressed the significant $4 trillion financing gap for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and stressed the need to review and reform the sovereign debt system to make it fairer for developing nations.
He advocated for a more equitable global tax regime and proposed reducing debt costs for developing countries to alleviate their financial burdens.
Furthermore, he highlighted the importance of fulfilling commitments regarding Official Development Assistance (ODA) to support the economic growth of developing nations.
Asif reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to collaborating with the international community to establish a just and equitable global system that benefits all nations, particularly those in the developing world.

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to address the United Nations General Assembly on September 27.
A statement from the Foreign Office confirmed that he will participate in the 79th session of the UN General Assembly in New York from September 23 to 27.
In his address, Prime Minister Sharif will reaffirm Pakistan’s commitment to multilateral support and highlight the UN’s crucial role in fostering global peace, security, and prosperity.
Currently, Prime Minister Sharif is in New York for the General Assembly session, accompanied by federal ministers Khawaja Asif, Atta Tarar, Khalid Maqbool, and Tariq Fatmi.
