Islamabad, 22 April 2022 (TDI): The Nigerian Defense team led by General Lucky Eluonye Onyenuchea Irabor, Chief of Defence Staff Nigerian Armed Forces, paid a visit to the President of Pakistan, Dr. Arif Alvi at Aiwan-e-Sadr.
During the meeting, both sides emphasized the need for increased cooperation in various fields for the mutual benefit of Pakistan and Nigeria. Both sides reiterated the desire to deepen cooperation in the areas of defense and counter-terrorism.

While welcoming the team, the President stated that Pakistan cherished its connections with Nigeria and was eager to develop genuine defense ties with Nigeria. He praised the presence of representatives from the Nigerian Armed Forces at the International Defence Exhibition and Seminar.
The President also referred to human rights crimes in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir, claiming that the belligerent neighbor was complicit in Muslim genocide. He stated that Pakistan has extensive experience in fighting terrorism and had destroyed terrorist forces in the nation. He emphasized the need of strengthening commercial and economic ties between the two countries.
General Lucky Eluonye Onyenuchea Irabor emphasized the need of bolstering the two nations’ friendship. He communicated sincere greetings from the President of Nigeria. He also expressed gratitude to the Pakistani government for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to him and his group.
Pakistan-Nigeria relations:
Pakistan and Nigeria have maintained a close relationship, which had been described by Nigeria’s Defense Minister as “friendly” and “family-like.”
Nigeria and Pakistan are both Commonwealth of Nations countries as well as members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
Nigeria has a High Commission in Islamabad and a consulate-general in Karachi. Whereas Pakistan has a High Commission in Abuja.
