Abuja, 8 August 2022 (TDI): The President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, pledges full support to the country’s hosting of major tourism, literary and cultural events. The events are scheduled to take place in Nigeria in October and November of this year.
The major international organizations and platforms will approve and grant the right to host these separate events to Nigeria. These international organizations include UNESCO, the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and the Global Association of Literary Festivals.

Overview of the events
The international events will help showcase Nigeria’s rich heritage in arts, culture, tourism, and entertainment. Additionally, the events will also provide advancement in the media sector.
In October, Nigeria will be hosting the Information Literacy Week and UNESCO Global Media 2022, in Abuja. The first Global Conference on Cultural Tourism and Creative Industry would be held in Lagos.
Moreover, in November, the Second Global Association of Literary Festivals Conference will take place in Abeokuta. The aim of these events is to attract positive feedback from the international community.
Moreover, the aim of these international events is also to propagate the image of the country that promotes media freedom and recognizes the significance of literacy.

Other international initiatives
The President of Nigeria also mentioned the Creative Industry Financing Initiative (CFI). Muhammadu Buhari’s administration established the initiative along with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
It provided many Nigerians in the film, fashion, and music industries with single-digit financing. Moreover, President Buhari in a statement welcomed the international visitors delightedly and urged the people of the country to show great compassion.
Additionally, the President also said that the literary world will showcase many good things to celebrate about the country. Muhammadu Buhari said that he looks forward to people coming together in the historic city of Abeokuta to meet the literary icons of Nigeria.
