Nicaragua authorizes emergency use of Cuban vaccines

La Habana, 3 October 2021 (TDI): The Cuban Empresarial Group of the Biotechnology and Pharmaceutic Industries; announced that the Ministry of Health of Nicaragua authorized emergency use of Abdala and Soberana vaccine; developed by the CEGBPI.

The government authorized the vaccines; according to the quality, security, and efficiency requirements of Nicaragua’s government. According to the CEGBPI; the certification offers both vaccines as a therapeutic tool, of safe access against the Covid-19 virus.

The Vice-President of Nicaragua confirmed that the Abdala and Soberana vaccines arrived at the country; and will be administered between citizens of 2 to 17 years. Also, besides Nicaragua, the Abdala vaccine has been approved by Vietnam; with the approval of 10 million vaccines, and Venezuela with 12 million doses.

Cuba started in September to request the OMS to recognize their vaccines, which would make it easier for its commercialization abroad. Argentina and Mexico also manifested their interest in acquiring the Cuban vaccines.
