Abu Dhabi, 17 November 2021 (TDI): New Zealand’s Foreign Minister Nanaia Mahuta arrived in UAE in her first seven-country tour overseas. Minister Nanaia is having a seven-country tour of Australia, Singapore, Indonesia, the UAE, Qatar, the U.S., and Canada.
On her arrival to UAE, the Foreign Minister of New Zealand met with Minister of Culture UAE Noura Binte Muhammad Al Kabbi Today. She later visited the festival of indigenous and Tribal ideas TeAratini opened at Expo 2020.
In a tweet, Minister Nanaia Mahuta announced the development.

She noted that the pair of Ministers discussed mutual interests among the two states. Both sides exchanged views over Expo2020, Covid 19 Pandemic, and Youth.
Foreign Minister arrived in UAE to support New Zealand’s exhibition at the Dubai Expo 2020. This was also meant to host the Te Aratini – a Festival of Indigenous and Tribal Ideas). During the visit, Foreign Minister will also meet the Foreign Minister of the UAE. This event is one of the important events for New Zealand at the Expo 2020 in Dubai
The Expo 2020 is providing a significant platform for New Zealand especially to provide an opportunity for demonstrating its indigenous values and trade at the globe.
This gives an opportunity to open new avenues of cooperation between New Zealand and the UAE. Strengthening long-term bilateral cooperation with UAE is critical especially to promote the connectivity and supply chains. UAE is an important partner for Aotearoa New Zealand in the Middle East region.
Te Aratini Festival
Te Aratini is a festival of indigenous and Tribal ideas that will be held from 17 to 19 November at the Dubai Expo 2020.
Moreover, In her opening address to the festival, the Minister emphasized the importance of Te Aratini for a shared sustainable, and inclusive future.
Te Aratini is an event that alleviates the indigenous and tribal people’s knowledge and wisdom. Te Aratini fosters a holistic understanding of the tribal people’s lives, culture, economies, and communities. This festival is happening during the Tolerance & Inclusivity Week at Expo 2020 Dubai.
