Islamabad (TDI): Tapas Adhikari, Ambassador of Nepal to Pakistan, has been honoured with the prestigious Global Ambassador Award 2024 in recognition of his outstanding efforts in strengthening diplomatic, trade, and cultural ties between Nepal and Pakistan.
The Diplomatic Insight, a global public diplomacy institution in Pakistan, awarded the Ambassador with the 6th Global Ambassador Award for his groundbreaking contributions to bringing the two nations closer together at bilateral, regional, and multilateral forums within a short period of time.
The 6th Global Ambassador Awards Ceremony 2024 took place in Islamabad, with the presence of Ambassadors, diplomatic corps, Parliamentarians, government officials, business leaders, academics, media, and civil society members.
Rana Ihsaan Afzal Khan, Coordinator to the Prime Minister of Pakistan, graced the occasion as the chief guest.
Dr. Farhat Asif, Chairperson of the Diplomatic Insight Group, welcomed distinguished guests and underscored the organization’s commitment to promoting global collaboration and diplomacy.
Tapas Adhikari served as Nepal’s Ambassador to Pakistan since November 7, 2020 and recently completed his tenure.

As Ambassador Tapas has completed his tenure and left right on Saturday last week, Lok Bahadur Poudel Chhetri, Charge D’ Affairs received the award on his behalf.
With over 20 years in Nepal’s Foreign Service, Ambassador Tapas has held key diplomatic positions in New York, Kolkata, and Tokyo, and in Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Before his appointment to Pakistan, he led the South East Asia and Pacific Division, strengthening Nepal’s foreign relations within the region.
Ambassador Adhikari has played a vital role in advancing Nepal-Pakistan relations, focusing on economic cooperation and cultural exchanges.

His efforts to revive Nepal’s tea exports to Pakistan after decades have marked a notable achievement in economic diplomacy.
Additionally, he has promoted tourism, emphasizing connections in Buddhism, Sikhism, and Hinduism, including Gandhara tourism.
Fluent in Urdu and Punjabi, Ambassador Adhikari has developed a close rapport with the local Pakistani community.
His personal appreciation for Urdu qawwali, ghazals, and the philosophies of Bulleh Shah and Sant Kabir deepens his cultural ties with Pakistan.
Ambassador Adhikari also supports Nepali students in Pakistan, ensuring consular assistance and fostering bonds between the Nepali and Pakistani communities.
His commitment to promoting Nepali culture abroad reflects his dedication to fostering mutual understanding and collaboration between the two nations.
