Islamabad (TDI): Federal Minister for Industries and Production Rana Tanveer Hussain said on Wednesday that the government would launch the second electric vehicle policy by November 30 to further promote eco-friendly transportation.
He made these remarks while addressing an “exhibition of electric bike models” organized by the Engineering Development Board (EDB) in the federal capital.
The minister further said that the government plans to transform the transportation landscape by setting up 10,000 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations by 2030.
“With the private sector’s interest and government-backed incentives, this push toward electric mobility is poised to significantly benefit both the economy and the environment,” he said.

Tanveer revealed that around 31 companies had expressed interest in investing in electric vehicles in Pakistan while two companies were granted permission to manufacture eclectic vehicles.
“Pakistan is now in a position to export three-wheelers,” the minister said while highlighting some key initiatives to promote electric vehicles across the country.

The minister said, under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the government had allocated $4 billion to promote electric vehicles.
Rana Tanveer Hussain said the government would distribute 100 e-bikes free of cost among students who will be toppers of their institutions.
The minister further said 40 charging stations will be established on the motorways, whereas around 300 such facilities will be set up along highways and other places.
