Naming Ceremony of Pakistan’s boats at SANMAR Shipyards

Istanbul, 7 October 2021 (TDI): A Naming Ceremony of Pakistan’s boats was held at SANMAAR Shipyards, Turkey. The purpose of ceremony was to commemorate cooperation between Port Qasim Authority, Pakistan, and SANMAR Shipyards, Turkey.

SANMAR is Turkey’s leading tugboat manufacturer. In March 2021, Pakistan signed two contracts, worth $33.46, with SANMAR Shipyards. Under this agreement, Pakistan purchased two pilot boats and four ASD (Azimuth Stern Drive) tugboats (LNG Compatible).

President SANMAR Shipyards, Mr. Cem Seven, and Chairman Port Qasim Authority, Rear Admiral (R) Syed Hassan Nasir Shah attended the naming ceremony.  Ambassador of Pakistan to Turkey, Mr. Muhammad Syrus Sajjad Qazi, and other officials were also present at the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Chairman Port Qassim Authority said this will enhance maritime cooperation between Pakistan and Turkey. Likewise, Ambassador Syrus Sajjad remarked that Pakistan and Turkey cooperate on both civil and defense sides of maritime affairs. He further added shipbuilding industries of Pakistan and Turkey have enormous potential.

Pakistani and Turkey share cordial diplomatic relations based on mutual trust and solidarity. Both countries cooperate in diverse sectors including trade, investment, culture, and defense. This project is a significant step forward in maritime cooperation between Pakistan and Turkey.
