Muslim guard saves girl from knife attacker in London

-

London, 13 August: A Muslim guard, who gave his name as Abdullah, saved an 11-year-old girl from a knife attack in London on Monday.

The 29-year-old guard at a nearby store said he heard a scream and then saw someone was stabbing a kid. He said he jumped on the attacker, held his hand carrying the knife and put him down. The guard succeeded in taking away the knife from the attacker.

Abdullah added that a couple of more people joined him and they held the attacker until police reached at the spot.

According to London’s Metropolitan Police, the 32-year-old attacker had been taken into custody after the young girl was seriously injured in the stabbing in Leicester Square in the city centre.

The condition of the girl is said to be not life threatening but she would require further treatment in hospital. The 34-year-old mother of the girl also suffered minor injuries.
The police further said in a statement that they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the stabbing. The cops said that the urgent investigation was underway and they were working to establish the exact details, said Detective Chief Superintendent Christina Jessah.

So far the police had established that the suspect and the victims were known to each other. The investigators further noted that while they continue to work to establish the motive of the suspect, they are not sure so far to indicate the attack was terror-related.

The stabbing attack comes two weeks after the knife attack in Southport, northwest England that killed three girls injured eight other children as well as two adults.
