Beijing, 17 October 2023 (TDI): A multilingual book titled “Xi Jinping on the Belt and Road” was formally unveiled in a significant event held in Beijing.
It includes writings by President Xi Jinping from 2013 and has been published in Arabic, Spanish, Portuguese, German, and Japanese editions, coinciding with the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
The book also comprises over 40 speeches and writings by President Xi, spanning from September 2013 to July 2018. It serves to explain and enhance the important concept of connecting the hearts and minds of the world through the Belt and Road Initiative. This collection showcases his ongoing commitment to international cooperation.
The launch ceremony was a significant occasion and was organized by the Information Office of the State Council and the China Foreign Language Bureau, with the Foreign Language Publishing House playing a key role.
Hosted by Gao Anming, the Vice President of China International Communications Group, it drew over 100 prominent guests, including diplomats from Belt and Road partner countries, experts, scholars, and representatives from the translation and publishing sectors.
Other notable guests included Wang Gang; the Deputy Head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, Essam Sharaf; the Former Prime Minister of Egypt, Du Zhanyuan; the President of China International Communications Group, Mhd Hasanein Khaddam; the Syrian Ambassador to China, Marco V. Balarezo; Peruvian Ambassador to China, Jasem Ibrahem Ainajem; Kuwaiti Ambassador to China, Muhammad Asif Noor; Director of the Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies, Islamabad, Wang Wen; Executive Dean of the Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies and Deputy Dean of Silk Road School, Renmin University of China and David Ferguson; Honorary Chief English Editor and Senior Expert in International Communication at Foreign Languages Press.
Over the past ten years, the BRI, under the visionary guidance of President Xi Jinping, has evolved from being just a Chinese idea to becoming a global reality.
This transformation signifies a shift from mere conceptualization to concrete actions, and from a vision to tangible outcomes.
The Initiative has indeed delivered substantial and fruitful results, contributing to global economic growth and offering solutions to global development challenges. It’s widely recognized as a public good and a platform for international cooperation.
“Xi Jinping on the Belt and Road” captures the essence of the initiative and contains 42 articles authored by President Xi between September 2013 and July 2018.
It provides a detailed account of how the BRI was proposed, developed, and enriched. This book also explains the principles, connotations, and objectives of the Initiative, offering authoritative insights for readers worldwide to better comprehend its significance.
Aside from the newly launched multilingual editions, the Foreign Language Publishing House has also published English, French, and Russian versions of “Xi Jinping on the Belt and Road,” ensuring that the wisdom and vision of the BRI reach a global audience.
This release in multiple languages stands as a testament to the Initiative’s remarkable journey over the past decade and its significant contributions to global economic growth and international cooperation.
