Mexican and French Foreign Secretaries met in Paris

Paris, 16 September 2021 (TDI): Mexican Sub-Secretary of Foreign Affairs Carmen Toscano met with the Secretary-General of the French Ministry of Europe François Delattre during his work tour to France from September 11 to 13.

Delattre confirmed the participation of France in the Bicentenary of the Independence of Mexico festivities. Both Secretaries addressed cooperation to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, the need to consider vaccines as a public good, and the fact that it is necessary to have fair access for all.

François Delattre reaffirmed France´s commitment for the signature and ratification of the Mexico-European Union Modernized Global Agreement. In 1997, the parties signed the Agreement, and in 2018, both parties decided to reinvigorate the Agreement. The plan included cooperation against climate change, support of human rights, fight against poverty, and research new medicine. The Modernized Global Agreement is expected to dictate the future diplomatic relationship between Mexico and the European Union.
