New York, 25 September 2021 (TDI): Foreign Minister of Indonesia, Retno Lestari Priansari Marsudi invited the Sri Lankan Counterpart, Gamini Lakshman Peiris on the sidelines of the 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The Indonesian Foreign Minister stated that the two countries do not have any bilateral issues.
Their aim as Foreign Ministers is to enhance economic cooperation.
To improve bilateral trade, the Preferential Trade Agreement that is now being considered must be finalized.
Sri Lankan Minister stated that the relationship between the two countries as nonaligned movement members (NAM) is crucial. He suggested injecting greater energy into NAM. Since it’s still relevant because its concept is to examine each topic on its own merits. He emphasized that Indonesia and Sri Lanka are also concerned about the security of the Indian Ocean. As a result, the Indian Ocean Rim Association and the ASEAN must be strengthened.
The Indonesian Minister agreed with all points and supported the Sri Lankan Counterpart.
