Meeting between Kazakh Ambassador and Federal Secretary

Islamabad, 6 August 2021 (TDI): On Thursday, Qystapa Erjan, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Pakistan, had a meeting with Zafar Hassan, Federal Secretary Communications, and Postal Services Division.

During the meeting, issues of transit and transportation connection between Kazakhstan and Pakistan were highlighted. Both sides agreed that the current potential within the scope of the Quadrilateral Transit Agreement between Kazakhstan, China, Pakistan, and Kyrgyzstan must be fully utilized. The importance of an intra-Afghan dialogue for a peaceful resolution was also emphasized.

Hassan suggested cooperation between the postal services of Kazakhstan and Pakistan. CASA-1000 was identified as an important cooperative regional key project, according to him. Noting that Kazakhstan is a major wheat exporter, the Kazakh ambassador proposed that the best ways to transfer wheat to Pakistan be considered. Both parties also agreed to meet regularly to continue their discussions.
