Mawlawi Muttaqi Discusses Foreign Mission Successes

Kabul (TDI): The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reviewed its accomplishments over the past year at a news conference hosted at the Government Media Information Center as part of the Emirati Institutions’ Review Program.

Foreign Minister Mawlawi Muttaqi Highlights Diplomatic Accomplishments and the Forthcoming of Foreign Missions.

The Islamic Emirate is in charge of 39 Afghan diplomatic missions that are fully operational throughout the world, and the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, emphasized this fact.

Mawlawi Muttaqi provided more details about the Ministry’s initiatives to forge diplomatic connections and guarantee Afghanistan’s representation abroad.

He pointed out that the Islamic Emirate had been formally taken off of the lists of prohibited organizations by Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia, with Russia likely to follow suit shortly.

Mawlawi Muttaqi called for more pragmatism in diplomatic relations with the Islamic Emirate, asking the international community and the UN to evaluate Afghanistan based on its existing reality.

Further, he categorically rejected statements made by Pakistani officials that the TTP was being funded from inside Afghanistan.

Diplomats who remained from the previous administration and are suspected of abusing embassy resources have also come under fire. Mawlawi Muttaqi reiterated the Islamic Emirate’s dedication to accountability and openness in answer to queries.

Furthermore, the Minister listed the diplomatic achievements of the Ministry, such as China, the United Arab Emirates, and Uzbekistan formally accepting Islamic Emirate ambassadors.

Additionally, he emphasized the accomplishments of the effective deployment of Afghan diplomats, who received formal acknowledgement from their host countries, to Malaysia, Turkey, Pakistan, Iran, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Qatar, and the UAE.

High-level bilateral discussions with nations including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Iran, Pakistan, China, Russia, Turkey, and various Central Asian countries are among the other major accomplishments.

Better regional cooperation has been made possible by these initiatives.

Regarding education and training, the Ministry obtained 1,681 scholarships for short-term training from China, the United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, and Pakistan.

Additionally, 1,174 scholarships for education were obtained from Russia, China, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, and Qatar.

Over the course of the previous year, the Ministry has additionally assisted with the certification of 283,210 official papers, issued 41,959 visas, and renewed 416,141 passports.

Among other notable accomplishments include the installation of a new passport system at seven provincial branches, eight border crossings, and five airports.

The Islamic Emirate’s continuous efforts to promote global cooperation and growth under stable government are reflected in these measures, Mawlawi Muttaqi emphasized in the end.
