Berlin, 23 September 2021 (TDI): President of Malta George Vella visited Germany on Wednesday, September 22. Vella will meet with President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
In 1965, Germany and Malta established their diplomatic relations shortly after Malta gained independence. Malta has been an EU member state since 1 May 2004. In terms of economic cooperation, Malta has a very open market economy to Germany and Germany is one of its most important financial and trading partners.
