Maldivian President addresses UNGA 76th Session

New York, 23 September 2021 (TDI): President of Maldives, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih addressed the 76th session of the UN General Assembly in Dhivehi, Maldivian language.

The President started the speech by showing pride in his mother tongue. He expressed hope in the newly elected President Abdulla Shahid. Moreover, some of the very important topics were also discussed in his speech. It included the impact of climate change, security threats, implications of a global pandemic, etc.

The President shed light on the importance of Covid-19 vaccines. He said that the Maldives believes in the equitable distribution of the vaccine. He took the opportunity to express his hopes from the UN in recognizing the Palestinian people. He said together we will have to fight the extremism.
