New York, 20 September 2021 (TDI): Maldivian Foreign Minister and President of the 76th UNGA, Abdulla Shahid met several senior officials.
The purpose of every meeting was to brief the officials about the priorities for the “Presidency of Hope.” Abdulla Shahid, met with the Foreign Minister of Turkey, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu. The Minister said that Turkey is ready to contribute as much as it can towards multilateralism. He was chosen president of the United Nations General Assembly’s 75th Session. So, the President congratulated him for successfully winding it up.
The President also met the Assistant Secretary-General for Peacebuilding Support, Oscar Fernandez-Taranco. The discussion revolved around the upcoming meeting on financing for peacebuilding. The meeting is requested by the Member States for UNGA-76. Moreover, Abdulla Shahid also held a meeting with the Permanent Representative of Uganda, Adonia Ayebare. They discussed the priorities of Uganda’s upcoming chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement. Along with South-South Cooperation.
