Islamabad, 20 August 2022 (TDI): Acting High Commissioner of the High Commission of Malaysia, Deddy Faisal Ahmad Salleh hosted the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP) Alumni Reception 2022.

92 outstanding alumni attended the program in Malaysia at the event. Former Pakistani Ambassadors including Lieutenant General Tahir Mahmood Qazi also attended the event.
The Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme focuses on the development of human resources through training and capacity-building programs.
Moreover, MTCP also includes short-term courses at public and private training facilities throughout the state and long-term programs at public universities.
The reception’s objectives are to encourage ongoing interactions and strengthen the bonds of friendship among all government representatives who have taken MTCP courses in Malaysia.
Malaysia is keen to inspire more participation from Pakistan in the MTCP. Under the programme, Malaysia shares its developments with other developing countries.
Additionally, it aims to develop stronger ties and increase networking among past MTCP participants, notably those from Pakistan, and Malaysia’s High Commission in Islamabad. The bilateral relationship between both states is very important for Malaysia.
Remarks of Malaysian Acting High Commissioner
Malaysia’s flagship MTCP annually delivers more than 60 technical training and capacity-building programs in a wide range of development fields.
Malaysian Acting High Commissioner, Deddy Faisal, said that Pakistani officials were greatly involved in the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme.
It will not only strengthen the bilateral relations between two states but also support the participants in their career development.
Moreover, he stated that MTCP reflects Malaysian commitments to South-South cooperation. The Technical Cooperation Programme also helped to build close relations with other states.
He added that Malaysia and Pakistan relations have grown significantly. Bilateral trade between two states increased 36.3 percent to US$ 1.9 billion in 2021. 51.9 percent of the trade volume of Malaysian trade to Pakistan includes Palm oil and related products.
He said, “Hopefully the MTCP participants would utilize the knowledge and experience to further contribute to the betterment of Pakistan.”
In the end, he said that the close cooperation and bilateral relations between the two brotherly states have covered various areas such as trade, investments, defense, culture, education, technical assistance, and many more.
