Malaysian High Commission in Islamabad Celebrates 68th National Day

Islamabad (TDI): The Malaysian High Commission in Islamabad celebrated the 68th National Day of Malaysia with a vibrant ceremony, which also simultaneously celebrated the strong diplomatic ties between Malaysia and Pakistan.

The event started with a flag raising, and brought together diplomats, government officials, business leaders, and members of the Malaysian community in Pakistan. High Commissioner of Malaysia to Pakistan, Mohammad Azhar Mazlan, hosted the reception and welcomed the guests.

In his opening address after the flag hoisting, the High Commissioner highlighted the long-standing friendship and cooperation between the two countries, emphasizing shared values, mutual respect, and growing bilateral trade and education exchanges.

He also highlighted Malaysia’s history, the importance its people attach to the National Day and the theme for this year which places nation building and inclusivity at the center. Malaysia got its independence from British colonial rule on August 31, 1957.

The evening featured traditional Malaysian music, cultural performances, and a curated menu of authentic Malaysian cuisine, giving guests a taste of the country’s rich heritage.

Malaysia and Pakistan have enjoyed warm diplomatic relations since 1957, with both nations working closely in forums such as the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and ASEAN dialogue partnerships.
