Malaysia and Pakistan Discuss FATF

10 June 2021- TDI: Deputy Secretary-General for Multilateral Affairs of Malaysia, Nadzirah Osman, held a virtual meeting with the High Commission of Pakistan to Malaysia, Amna Baloch earlier today. The main agenda behind this meeting was to discuss issues of mutual interests. The discussion mostly centered on issues related to the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).

The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) is the global money laundering and terrorist financing watchdog. The inter-governmental body sets international standards that aim to prevent these illegal activities and the harm they cause to society. As a policy-making body, the FATF works to generate the necessary political will to bring about national legislative and regulatory reforms in these areas.  There are more than 200 countries and jurisdictions committed to implementing the policies of FATF to eradicate organized crime and corruption. Among those countries are Malaysia and Pakistan, both countries highly dedicated to solving such issues among their territories. Both are committed to corporate with each other on issues of mutual interest in FATF.
