Dera Ismail Khan, 7 December 2021 (TDI): M-14 Motorway Hakla-Dera Ismail Khan section to open for traffic from 13 December 2021.
The construction of the M-14 Motorway route has been completed under the Western Route of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor CPEC. It will connect the four provinces at M-1 Motorway. M-14 Motorway will also be the starting point of the Western Route of the CPEC.
The construction of the service areas of the M-14 Motorway will be completed shortly and its inauguration ceremony will be held on 13 December initiating the traffic on the newly built Motorway. After missing some notable deadlines, the M-14 Motorway will be open for traffic in the ongoing month.
The 293 km long M-14 Motorway started in 2016 and it was planned to be completed in 2018 but did not succeed.
The M-14 Motorway will be the connecting point of four provinces with M-1 Motorway at South Punjab, South KP, Sindh, and Baluchistan.
It will enhance the quality of traveling by shortening the time of the journey. It will take two-and-a-half hours from the present five hours or more in traveling from Dera Ismail Khan to Islamabad. Traveling from the Southern parts of the country to Islamabad has been quite exhausting for the passengers. The M-14 Motorway will provide them a comfortable traveling.
This project is not financed by China under the CPEC. It is financed by the Pakistani government. The M-14 Motorway is the beginning of the Western Corridor of the CPEC. This section of the motorway is planned to link with Karachi and Gwadar which will make it the shortest and quickest route of the CPEC.
The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor will help the two countries equally. It is win-win cooperation for the two countries. CPEC is aimed to create social and economic development in Pakistan. The projects like M-14 Motorway will create connectivity in the CPEC route which will connect Pakistani seaport Gwadar with the Chinese city Kashgar.
