Islamabad (TDI): The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) has announced the appointment of Lt Gen Asim Malik as the new Director-General of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). Lt Gen Asim Malik has had a distinguished career in the Pakistan Army.
Lt Gen Asim Malik replaced Lt Gen Nadeem Anjum, appointed in 2021 by former Prime Minister Imran Khan. However, Asim Malik was promoted to lieutenant general in October 2021 and appointed as the army’s adjutant general.
Lt Gen Asim Malik has served as chief instructor at the National Defence University, Islamabad, and as an instructor at the command and staff college Quetta.
He is widely respected for his leadership and strategic insight, having served in many critical positions throughout his military service with notable contributions in both operational and intelligence roles.
Lt Gen Asim Malik graduated from the Pakistan Military Academy. He rose through the ranks by holding key commands and staff assignments. His experience includes leading counter-terrorism operations and intelligence missions in challenging environments.
DG ISI, Lt Gen Malik commanded an Army Corps, where he played a crucial role in ensuring the security of sensitive regions. He strengthened Pakistan’s defense capabilities, before his appointment.
In addition to his operational expertise, Lt Gen Malik is involved in boosting greater inter-agency cooperation. He has been enhancing Pakistan’s ability to respond to complex security challenges.
