Pakistan’s flagship maritime event is all set to begin on 3rd November, 2025 at Karachi Expo Center. Organized under the patronage of Ministry of Maritime Affairs of Pakistan, and co-organized by Badar Expo Solutions, PIMEC is the initiative of Pakistan Navy.

This four day event, ending on November 6th, will draw worldwide participation on both governmental level and private enterprises excelling in maritime innovation and solutions. PIMEC is the country’s largest maritime event where its maritime potential and blue economy footprint is set out for the world to see.

The exhibition brings together top-tier displays and allows exhibitors an opportunity to initiate networks that culminate into formal collaborations into the still developing and evolving maritime landscape of this region.

Put simply, this is the once-in-a-while opportunity for the country’s maritime sector to meet international investors and enterprises. Not just that, the expo is a golden chance for business-to-government (B2G) and business-to-business (B2B) interactions.

This year’s exhibition and conference are going to be the second edition of PIMEC, after the groundbreaking success of the first and inaugural edition in 2023, which brought together global maritime leaders, policy makers, naval delegations, and industry innovators.

  • Fifty countries participated in the event with 159 delegates.
  • A total of 143 exhibitors took the floor to display their products and innovation.
  • A higher chunk of the exhibitors were businesses from inside Pakistan while businesses from 14 other countries also participated.

A greater proportion of local exhibitors established the fact that Pakistan has a great pool of innovators, who believe in maritime development being led indigenously.

  • The show stopper were the 22 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) which were signed as an outcome of B2B, G2G, and B2G meetings.
  • 27 papers were presented at the Maritime Conference whose theme was “Embracing Blue Economy – Challenges and Opportunities for Developing Countries.”
  • Maritime security and ocean governance featured prominently as sub-themes in the scholarly papers that were presented at the conference.

Needless to say, PIMEC has provided fuel to young researchers to pursue their research ambition, for now they have a platform to present and showcase their work and findings. Maintaining diversity, the conference invites people from diverse backgrounds to submit their papers for consideration; including but not limited to maritime and shipping professionals, logistics experts, academics, researchers, technology developers, environmentalists, and policy practitioners.

Day 1 of PIMEC’s 2023 edition was lined up with a bustling welcome and inaugural ceremony, session I of the Maritime Conference , and PIMEC’s signature gala dinner and awards, while day 2 saw back-to-back second and third sessions of the Conference. A separate reception gave the guests a taste of Pakistani cuisine and Karachi’s flavors.

The Conference concluded on the third day with a final and fourth session. Guests were treated to separate receptions on each day while B2B and B2G meetings continued for all three days of the event. Each day stood out with exclusive VIP visits, MoU signings and networking floors.

Being a country with three active ports and a thriving coastline, the promise of Pakistan’s blue economy is very substantial. Dedicating the right amount of resources and giving the necessary exposure to local innovative enterprises are the engines that will fuel the growth of blue economy in the country. Currently, 1700+ ships and vessels visit the two ports in Karachi every year while this activity sustains 40,000 jobs.

Gwadar port and its operations are going to further add to these numbers. Not to mention the views and the natural beauty that Pakistan’s coastline has to offer. This means that in addition to deep-sea explorations and mobilizing alternative sources of renewable energy, coastal tourism alone is one massive possibility that can change the lives of people inhabiting the shore.

This year, PIMEC is coming back to build further on the successes of its 2023 edition – to develop Pakistan’s shores to their best potential and kickstart the blue economy revolution.
