Rawalpindi (TDI): Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Saddam Khalifa Haftar, held high-level meetings with Pakistan’s military and civilian leadership on Friday, during an official visit aimed at bolstering bilateral defense ties.
The Libyan military chief met with Field Marshal, Chief of Army Staff, Syed Asim Munir, at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.
According to a statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the two exchanged views on issues of mutual concern, the changing regional security landscape, and evolving defense cooperation between the two countries.
Both sides agreed to strengthen collaboration in the defense industry and share technical expertise to tackle emerging security challenges.

Earlier, upon arriving at GHQ, Lt Gen Haftar laid a floral wreath at the Yadgar-e-Shuhada (Martyrs’ Monument), paying tribute to the sacrifices of Pakistan Army personnel.
In a separate engagement, the Libyan commander also visited the Naval Headquarters in Islamabad, where he was received by Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, the Directorate General Public Relations (Pakistan Navy) said in a statement.
During their meeting, the two naval chiefs discussed regional maritime security, training initiatives, and opportunities for deeper cooperation in defense.

Later in the day, Lt Gen Haftar and his delegation met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at the Prime Minister House and discussed issues of mutual interest.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister welcomed the Libyan Commander-in-Chief and his delegation to Pakistan.
They discussed cooperation between the two nations in different fields.
