Mexico City, 28 September 2021 (TDI): Mexico received the Prime Minister of Belize, the Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs, the French Ecologic Transition Minister, the Vice-Ministers of Bangladesh, Greece, and Italy. The leaders are in Mexico to celebrate the 200th Anniversary of Mexican Independence, on 27 September.
The Mexican Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard met with Serbian Counterpart Nikola Selaković. In the meeting, both discussed the state of Mexican-Serbian bilateral relations. The Foreign Ministers also celebrated the 75th Anniversary of the establishment of international relations.
Ebrard also met with French Ecologic Transition Minister Barbara Pompili and discussed how to strengthen cooperation against climate change. The Foreign Relations office welcomed her via Twitter.
Shahriar Alam, Andreas Katsaniotis, and Benedetto Della Vedova were representing Bangladesh, Greece, and Italy on the Anniversary. They met bilaterally with the Mexican Sub-Secretary Carmen Toscano.
Alam, Katsaniotis, and Vedova discussed with Toscano their common agendas. The Sub-Secretary of Latin America and the Caribbean, Maximiliano Reyes Zuñiga, welcomed John Briceño, the Prime Minister of Belize, in the airport.
On the 27 September of 1821, the War for Mexican Independence ended when the Trigarante Army entered the City of Mexico. This day marked the start of Mexico as a sovereign Nation.
