Kyiv, 16 August 2022 (TDI): The Republic of Latvia assured the provision of defense assistance to Ukraine in its conflict with Russia on Monday. Latvia provided six M109 Howitzer artillery batteries to the armed forces of Ukraine.
Oleksii Reznikov, the serving Defense Minister confirmed the receiving of such weapons from Latvia and thanked them for their assistance.

Latvia has already assured its continuous support to Ukraine in the conflict with Russia that is going on since February 2022. Therefore, the political and security officials of Ukraine welcomed the move by Latvia.
Latvia campaigns for fundraising to assist Ukraine
The fundraising campaign to enhance the defense assistance to Ukraine by Latvia started on Tuesday 16 August. The aim of this campaign by the people and government of Latvia is to collect enough funds to buy Turkish drones Bayraktar TB2.

Under the initiative of Latvia supporting Kyiv on every front, Bayraktar TB2 will be soon added to the military equipment of Ukraine. Nevertheless, other European states have taken similar actions to support Ukraine.
Latvia aims to strengthen Ukrainian Air Force
The #ArmUkraineNow campaign by Latvia also includes support for Ukrainian Air Force. On Monday, Latvia gave Ukrainian Air Force a fleet of helicopters.
Along with this fleet, it also gave weapons like Stinger MANPADS, anti-tank weapons, and unmanned aerial weapons.
The fleet of four helicopters includes Russian-origin helicopters Mi-17 and Mi-21. Ukrainian Air Force will incorporate these helicopters very soon. The assembly and paint jobs for the donated helicopters were also done by Latvia.
