Harare, 16 August 2022 (TDI): The European Union Delegation to Zimbabwe, in partnership with the European Film Festival of the country, is organizing Bioskop Zimbabwe Short Film Competition 2022.

The European Film Festival of the country is one of Zimbabwe’s leading film industry events.

 

 

It is the third edition of the competition this year. The competition will run under the theme ‘Shifting perceptions.’

The Euro Film Festival Zimbabwe 2022 invites filmmakers from across the country and Europe/Africa to enter their short films for the competition. Visual arts, Sculptors, Graphic designs, and architect product designs are submitted for this year’s Bioskop Award Trophy Competition.

In a statement, EUFF Zimbabwe said the short film competition seeks to cultivate a mentality of accepting change within the industry.

Significance of the Festival

The festival offers a platform for diverse and unique storytelling. It involves the celebration of both European and African cinema. The festival provides opportunities both to engage and educate Zimbabwean filmmakers at the global level.

Film professionals who are making their mark locally and internationally are part of the judging panelists for the competition. Various categories are part of the competition. It includes Best Narrative Short, Best Documentary Short, Best Cinematography, Best Sound Editing, and Best Diaspora Film.

The winners of the competition will receive a cash price of $500. It is inclusive of the designer’s fee and production budget.

The Bioskop competition is part of this year’s Euro Film Festival Zimbabwe 2022 program. It is scheduled from 20-23 October in Bulawayo and 27-30 October in Harare.
