Laos President’s visit to Cambodia brings positive outcomes

Phnom Penh, 6 May 2023 (TDI): Thongloun Sisoulith, Laos President, led a high-level delegation on a state visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia at the legacy of Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, bringing positive outcomes.

Thongloun Sisoulith, Laos President, also witnessed the opening ceremony of the 32nd SEA GAMES from 04–06 May 2023.

Preah Bat and Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, had an imperial audience with RATANAK KAUDH, the late King-Father of Cambodia, Thongloun Sisoulith, at the Royal Palace.

The President had a conversation with Hun Sen, the Prime Minister of Cambodia, and had a courtesy call from Say Chum, the President of the Senate of Cambodia.

Thongloun and Hun Sen expressed their appreciation for the close ties and collaboration between the two nations in the spirit of long-standing friendship, good neighborliness, and brotherly solidarity.

The two Leaders urged relevant ministries and institutions to successfully implement the Action Plan (2023–2027) for the Long-term and Comprehensive Strategic Relationship and the Agreement on the delimitation of the State Border between the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Lao People’s Democratic Republic.

As well as other documents agreed upon by both sides for the partnership while remembering the successful Official Visit of Samdech Techo, Prime Minister, to the Lao PDR on February 13–14, 2023.

The two sides emphasized that the Lao President’s State Visit to Cambodia and his involvement in the 32nd SEA GAMES Inaugural Ceremony will provide their bilateral ties and partnership new energy.

To contribute to the upkeep of peace, security, and prosperity in the area and beyond, both sides reaffirmed their firm commitment to supporting one another and fostering close collaboration in regional and international fora, particularly in the ASEAN and UN frameworks.

The Prime Minister extended his profound gratitude and appreciation to Thongloun Sisoulith for attending Cambodia’s 32nd SEA GAMES Opening Ceremony and supporting Cambodia’s bid to chair ASEAN in 2022.

During his official visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia, President Thongloun Sisoulith thanked Norodom Sihamoni for the gracious invitation and exquisite hospitality extended to him and his delegation.
