Vientiane, 25 September 2021 (TDI): The Minister of Agriculture and Forestry of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Phet Phomphiphak has delivered a speech at the forum of the United Nations Food System Summit on 24 September 2021. The main objective of the speech was to gradually increase the consultation process on the global food system summit.

In this meeting, the Lao Agricultural Minister said that as part of Sustainable Development Goals 2030 Lao People’s Democratic Republic needs to engage with multi-sectoral stakeholders to grow a national food system. The National Food system aims to provide nutritious and clean food to all which is a basic necessity of all human beings and needs equitable distribution of nutritious food.
Minister Phet Phomphiphak said in the meeting we required collection cooperation with UN agencies including the World Food Program (WFP), the Food and Agriculture Organization of UN (FAO), International Fund for Agriculture Development (IFAD), and United Nations Environment Program (UNEP). These collective initiatives help us to develop the national food system and expand agricultural development strategy.
