Cairo, 15 February 2023 (TDI): Foreign Ministry of Kuwait informed that Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait, participated in the Palestine Conference 2023 with the delegation of the State of Kuwait.

The Palestine Conference 2023, themed “Resilience and Development,” was organized by the League of Arab States’ headquarters in Cairo.

Kuwait’s Foreign Minister strongly condemned the Israeli occupation’s passage of a bill legalizing settlement outposts and establishing new settlements in the occupied West Bank.

Al-Sabah stated that the conference and planning goals are to preserve Jerusalem from the illegal unilateral practices of the Israeli occupation forces and attempt to erase its identity.

He noted that Israel’s action violates international law. It undermines all international efforts to find a just and comprehensive solution that restores the Middle East peace process.

Al-Sabah stated that the State of Kuwait warns of the consequences of Israeli violations that could lead to further escalation and the loss of any chance for peace.

The Foreign Minister stressed that a comprehensive framework for the Palestinian cause assures the end of the occupation and the repatriation of refugees.

He highlighted the need for establishing an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, under international legitimacy, the Arab peace initiative, and the two-state solution.

Al-Sabah urged United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) to continue its essential work in assisting Palestinians with relief, health, and education.

He called on the international community to quickly stop this unilateral decision and safeguard Palestinians and their property.

Israel’s West Bank Settlement

Israel is planning to build thousands of new West Bank houses for Jewish settlers. Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu’s office confirmed the plans. According to the statement, Palestinian settlements are illegal in Israel state.

It also stated that Israel would legitimize nine illegal settlement outposts. It would assemble a special planning committee to approve more settlement buildings in the coming days.
