Tehran (TDI): On his official 4-country visit, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Iran’s Supreme Leader, Sayyid Ali Khamenei, on Monday May 26, 2025. Khamenei commended Pakistan’s unshaken stance on Gaza and pressed “joint efforts” between Iran and Pakistan to stop “Zionist” atrocities on Palestinians.
He also expressed relief on the cessation of confrontation between India and Pakistan, as PM Shehbaz’s visit agenda includes thanking friendly countries for their support during the military confrontation with India.
The Supreme Leader stressed the unity among Muslim countries in the face of unapologetic warmongering. He stated that Palestine is the most pressing issue in the world right now.
Appreciating Pakistan, Khamenei said, “While there have always been inducements for Islamic countries to establish ties with the Zionist regime, Pakistan has never been influenced by those inducements.”
Effective, joint efforts by Iran and Pakistan are necessary to stop the Zionist regime’s crimes in Gaza.

He expressed optimism about unity of the Islamic world and said that many developments confirm why one must be hopeful.
Revisiting Pakistan’s support for Iran during the Iran-Iraq war of 1980, the Iranian Supreme Leader said, “Relations between Iran and Pakistan have always been warm and brotherly. Pakistan’s commendable stance during Saddam’s imposed war on Iran is a clear example of these brotherly relations.”
PM Shehbaz started his four-country visit from Turkiye, where he arrived on Sunday. The purpose of this visit was to express appreciation and acknowledgment for the support extended to Pakistan by the people of Turkiye, during recent tensions with India.
After Iran, the Prime Minister will travel to Azerbaijan and Tajikistan this week.
