Kenya and Ethiopia will enter in power exchange agreement

Nairobi, 15 September 2021 (TDI): Cabinet Secretary for Energy and Petroleum Kenya, Charles Keter co-chaired a meeting with his Ethiopian Counterpart, Seleshi Bekele on the exchange programs and agreements of power between Kenya and Ethiopia on Monday.
The topic of discussion was the power project and its benefits.

It was stated that soon Kenya and Ethiopia engage themselves in a power trade agreement as Eastern Electricity Highway Project (EEHP) interconnector nears to end.

Once the power project is completed it will regulate the exchange of power between both countries and by completion of this project the power system of the East African Countries will be unified with the creation of a power pool.

During the meeting, Principal Secretary of Energy Joseph Njoroge, Chairman of Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (KETRACO) Joe Mutambu, MD of KETRACO Fernandes Barasa, and various Government Officials were also present.
