Kazakhstan's Foreign Minister strengthens ties with SCO member states
The Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan, Mukhtar Tileuberdi attended the Council of Foreign Ministers of SCO member states

Tashkent, 29 July 2022 (TDI): The Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan, Mukhtar Tileuberdi attended the Foreign Ministers Council of SCO member states. The council will be held for two days.

SCO’s Foreign Ministers Council

This year the Foreign Ministers Council of SCO’s member states aimed at bringing heads of Foreign Ministries together to strengthen cooperation among member states. It also discussed about expanding the organization.

The Council is held in Tashkent, a city in Uzbekistan. It will also discuss rising inflation in the member states and bring forth solutions to deal with problems faced by the participating states.

Foreign Ministers of China, Russia, Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan, India, Kazakhstan, as well as other states are attending the Council.

Meeting with India’s External Affairs Minister

The council has brought Foreign Ministers from different states together in one city that is Tashkent. This has given the Ministers a chance to discuss and strengthen their bilateral relations with participating states.

Mukhtar Tileuberdi, the Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan met with the Minister of External Affairs of India, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.

The two Ministers agreed, during the meeting, that relations between Kazakhstan and India have strengthened over the past years. They also discussed about cooperating in other domains to further enhance relations between the two states.

Meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister

Mukhtar Tileuberdi also met with the Foreign Minister of China, Wang Yi. Wang Yi expressed that relations between Kazakhstan and China have grown since the meetings between the Presidents of the two states.

He emphasized that both states should now seek improved implementations of the agreements signed earlier this year. He said that he would help boost stronger ties between Uzbekistan and China.

Wang Yi also informed the Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan that China will continue to help Kazakhstan in boosting its economy. The two Ministers also agreed on accelerating the negotiation and conclusion part of the cooperation plan in economy and trade.

The Foreign Ministers also discussed about the cooperation in Belt and Road initiative. They debated the production capcity and investment plans of the two countries.

Wang Yi, also affirmed that China will continue to prioritize the implementation of more livelihood projects in Kazakhstan.

While Tileuberdi spoke highly of the development of the China-Kazakhstan permanent comprehensive strategic partnership. He said that Kazakhstan is ready to work with the Chinese side and further enhance bilateral ties.

He also informed the Foreign Minister of China that Kazakhstan has extended the visa-free period for Chinese citizens to 14 days. Furthermore, it expects to further facilitate personnel exchanges & deepen sub-national exchanges & cooperation between the two.

The Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan also expressed gratitude for China’s support for Kazakhstan in hosting the Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA).

Consequently, Wang Yi affirmed that China supports Kazakhstan in playing its role as the CICA head. He also said that this has helped in improving the CICA cooperation and has made great contributions to promoting regional security and development.

Concluding their meeting, the two sides expressed that they will strengthen coordination within the SCO framework. They also agreed on supporting Uzbekistan in assuming its responsibilities as the SCO chairmanship and holding a successful Samarkand Summit.

SCO Council

The SCO Council of Foreign Ministers saw discussions on a number of topics on Friday. In the meeting, it was decided that Qatar, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia will sign pacts to get dialogue partner status in SCO.

Moreover, dialogue status for Bahrain and Maldives will be decided in September. The meeting also saw discussion about procedure for giving full membership to Belarus and Iran.

The Foreign Ministers also decided on giving observer status to Azerbaijan, Armenia, Cambodia, & Nepal. In addition, Foreign Ministers of participating states will also discuss bilateral issues with concerned states on the sidelines of the official meeting of SCO.
