Kazakhstan and Pakistan Are Partners in Digital Trade: Kazakh Envoy

Islamabad (TDI): Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Yerzhan Kistafin, attended the Global Pakistan Summit 2025, which aimed at promoting e-commerce and digital trade in the region. The Ministry of Commerce and the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) co-organized the event.

The Global Pakistan Summit, which is held annually, serves as a platform that connects stakeholders from the public and private sectors with global partners to accelerate Pakistan’s transition to a digital economy. Policymakers, technology leaders, diplomats, and traders participated in the event.

Rana Ihsaan Afzal Khan, Prime Minister’s Coordinator on Commerce, attended the event as a guest of honor. Diplomatic mission heads and sectoral representatives from Kazakhstan, Belarus, Uzbekistan, and Türkiye were also in attendance, demonstrating the increasing regional significance of the summit.

During his speech, Ambassador Kistafin briefed on Kazakhstan’s e-commerce industry, drawing attention to the country’s efforts to digitize trade infrastructure, engage SMEs online, and expand collaboration with international digital platforms. He noted that by the end of this year, the country’s digital trade is expected to reach approximately $6 billion.

“E-commerce is not a passing trend but a transformative force that is reshaping regional economies,” said the Ambassador, adding: “Kazakhstan views Pakistan as a strategic partner in the promotion of cross-border digital trade and innovation.”

The Ambassador also briefed participants on the outcomes of the Kazakhstan-Pakistan Intergovernmental Commission this year in Islamabad, where the two sides agreed to expand cooperation in e-commerce and approved a Trade and Economic Roadmap for 2025–2027.

Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Trade and Integration also gave a presentation on national initiatives, priority reforms, and recent e-commerce indicators during the summit.

Organizations such as QazTrade, Kazpost, and the Digital Kazakhstan Association participated online, which shows a deeper interest in Kazakhstan’s business and trade sectors to regional collaboration in the digital sphere.
